One of the first works as part of the dark series. Formal details such as the refraction of the legs where they intersect with the glass of the side table, the folds, lights and shadows created by the floral pattern of the dress, and the perception of soft, silky skin are added to the speculations about the expression—whether it is one of terror, disgust, or an inability to bear what is being seen or heard.
