La pintura són decisions constants: la paleta, la composició, el motiu, etc. A més de les decisions formals també n’hi han moltes d’inconscients que van exterioritzant el meu estat interior. I tot això parla de mi: el dramatisme en la llum, la figura solitària, girada i de mirada baixa, la fredor i la paleta fosca. Aquest tenebrisme no és sols solució formal, sinó reflex de la vida inercial, d’ocultar-me i témer brillar que travessava llavors.

Painting is about constant decisions: the palette, the composition, the subject, and so on. In addition to formal decisions, there are also many unconscious ones that reveal my inner state. And all of this speaks about me: the drama in the light, the solitary figure, turned away with a lowered gaze, the coldness, and the dark palette. This tenebrism is not merely a formal solution, but also a reflection of the inertial life I was living at the time, of hiding myself and being afraid to shine.
